Movie Preview: The Other Guys

The Other Guys
Release Date: August 6 2010
Starring: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Samuel Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Eva Mendes.
Written and Directed by: Adam McKay

NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don't get tattoos - other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You've seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They're not heroes - they're "the Other Guys." But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City's biggest crime. It's the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?

These are the same guys that brought you Step Brothers. The trailers were hilarious and i really believe this movie will be the top comedy of the year. Information Provided by IMDB.com and Sony Pictures.

Quick Movie Review: Ninja

Synopsis provided by Netflix:
American Casey (Scott Adkins) journeys to Japan to study the ancient martial art of ninjutsu with the greatest masters on the planet. Now his training will be put to the test when he's summoned by his sensei (Togo Igawa) to return to New York on a dangerous mission. Casey must protect the Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest containing the weapons of a legendary ninja.

I thought this movie was amazing. It's filled with great action scenes and incredible special effects that keep you on the edge of your seat. The story follows Casey as he protects the Yoroi Bitsu from his fellow student, Masazuka. Masazuka was banished by the dojo and seeks out to steal the Yoroi Bitsu for revenge and to "claim what is rightfully his." The story is pretty good and some of the scenes do a great job showing the Japanese culture and cities. If you love martial arts action movies, you'll love this movie. The action scenes are amazing and the movie is full of really kool ninja weapons.

I'd totally recommend this movie for anyone who wants to sit down and watch an action packed movie. Though, this one isn't for the kiddies. There is plenty of scenes with blood and heads being cut off so WARNING. So go out rent this movie and enjoy it as much as i did.

Ninja 8.5/10
Special Effects 9/10
Story 7/10
Action 9/10

Warning! This movie is rated R for Violence

Also, if you're a movie fan like me and you're looking for a way to watch great movies for a low price, Netflix is for you. I got Netflix once it was available for Xbox Live and I'm able to watch a ton of instant streaming movies and TV shows. I just recently started ordering movies and suprisingly the service is fast and easy to use. I pay $9 for one dvd out at a time and instant live stream. It's totally worth it. I have Netflix on my Xbox360 and my Wii, so i can have have family movie nights or something to watch while im getting ready to fall asleep.
