Movie Preview: The Other Guys
The Other Guys
Release Date: August 6 2010
Starring: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Samuel Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Eva Mendes.
Written and Directed by: Adam McKay
NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don't get tattoos - other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You've seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They're not heroes - they're "the Other Guys." But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City's biggest crime. It's the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?
These are the same guys that brought you Step Brothers. The trailers were hilarious and i really believe this movie will be the top comedy of the year. Information Provided by IMDB.com and Sony Pictures.

Quick Movie Review: Ninja
Synopsis provided by Netflix:
American Casey (Scott Adkins) journeys to Japan to study the ancient martial art of ninjutsu with the greatest masters on the planet. Now his training will be put to the test when he's summoned by his sensei (Togo Igawa) to return to New York on a dangerous mission. Casey must protect the Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest containing the weapons of a legendary ninja.
I thought this movie was amazing. It's filled with great action scenes and incredible special effects that keep you on the edge of your seat. The story follows Casey as he protects the Yoroi Bitsu from his fellow student, Masazuka. Masazuka was banished by the dojo and seeks out to steal the Yoroi Bitsu for revenge and to "claim what is rightfully his." The story is pretty good and some of the scenes do a great job showing the Japanese culture and cities. If you love martial arts action movies, you'll love this movie. The action scenes are amazing and the movie is full of really kool ninja weapons.
I'd totally recommend this movie for anyone who wants to sit down and watch an action packed movie. Though, this one isn't for the kiddies. There is plenty of scenes with blood and heads being cut off so WARNING. So go out rent this movie and enjoy it as much as i did.
Ninja 8.5/10
Special Effects 9/10
Story 7/10
Action 9/10
Warning! This movie is rated R for Violence
Also, if you're a movie fan like me and you're looking for a way to watch great movies for a low price, Netflix is for you. I got Netflix once it was available for Xbox Live and I'm able to watch a ton of instant streaming movies and TV shows. I just recently started ordering movies and suprisingly the service is fast and easy to use. I pay $9 for one dvd out at a time and instant live stream. It's totally worth it. I have Netflix on my Xbox360 and my Wii, so i can have have family movie nights or something to watch while im getting ready to fall asleep.

Free Agency Begins July 1st
When free agency talks begin the one name coming from everyone's mouth is Lebron James. He's been on the minds of GM's around the NBA for quite a while now. Teams the past couple of years trying to trim the big contracts and keep a solid group of starters to help Lebron James win a championship. Seriously interested teams include Chicago Bulls, The Nets (making the move to Brooklyn), New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and recently the Dallas Mavericks have been tossed into the pool.
According to a majority of ESPN analysts, the Chicago Bulls have pulled into a slight lead for the king but its anyone's game. ESPN also says that Chris Bosh is looking to follow Lebron closely to hopefully sign with the team James selects. Bulls fans should be extremely excited, having a squad that could potentially involve Lebron James and Chris Bosh. With Derrick Rose at point the Bulls could remind you of the old days with Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman.
Things are looking good for the Bulls but what happens to Cleveland? It probably sucks to be a Cavs fan right now. No Tom Izzo, most likely the departure of the greatest player in Cavs history. If the Cavs could secure one of the other major free agents on the market that is probably much cheaper than Lebron, they could start creating a solid TEAM. Other major free agents include Dwayne Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, Richard Jefferson, Josh Howard, Shaq(even though he's pretty much done), Ray Allen, Carlos Boozer, Yao Ming, and Joe Johnson to name a few.
Now I'm a hometown fan. I love the Pistons. So i have to wonder what Joe Dumars was thinking when he signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villenueva. When you have this kind of free agency class, why wouldn't you save the money to sign a couple of these big names. The Pistons need to make some sort of move because these set of guys the pistons have now, won't win you a championship. So Joe D you need to wake up and pull something magical out of your rear!
Who would you like to see sign with your favorite team?

The Detroit Lions Offseason
According to ESPN analyst, Mike Golic, The Detroit Lions have had the best offseason and i totally agree. Jim Schwartz has began building the Lions into a respectable franchise, bringing in players that can turn the Lions around. Nate Burleson, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Ndamukong Suh, and Jahvid Best bring with them the new Jim Schwartz attitude.
Now last year was a learning process. Jim Schwartz needed to know what he was working with. Obviously there wasn't anything spectacular about taking control of an 0-16 team but thankfully it's what we needed. It resulted in a revamp of the administration, which then led to getting key building blocks and veterans that could teach the bright new stars. This year Schwartz has been rebuilding the defense. Completely changing a defensive line that was just plain awful. Then adding more weapons on the offensive side of the ball to help give our promising new quarterback and wide receiver a little help spreading the ball around. Adding Nate Burleson and Tony Scheffler will be a tremendous help for Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson.
Looking at these key additions from the free agency and the draft, you can honestly say the Lions are done being the joke of the NFL. They are looking to build a new franchise that has some attitude. Being a Detroit Lions fan myself, i can say each year you hope the Lions to get a couple wins. This year I'm hoping for 8 wins and hopefully a playoff push, wild card would be nice. It'll show people we mean business and we are slowly on the up-and-up.
So lets start believing and lets show some support for these new Detroit Lions.
Oh by the way if you don't know who Zack Follett is.....you better start doing your research. He's going to be the next great Lions linebacker. Check out some of his hits on youtube from his Cal days.

Xbox 360 - Hidden Gem- Singularity.
My first review is for a game that flew under the radar as a promotional standpoint. I've gotten to play Singularity on the Xbox360. I personally haven't seen anything about this and i just found out about it yesterday. Singularity ships out June 27 but thanks to an unnamed source I've played this before it hits shelves. This game surprised the hell out of me. First booting up the game the companies Raven, Activision, and Unreal Technology, popped up. These companies have their hands on a lot of great games. The story follows Nathaniel Renko an American Captain in the Special Forces. He's sent to investigate an old Russian military compound that experiment with "E99" or Element 99. In the 1950s the Russians wanted to create weapons that were far superior then that ever seen by any other country. The Russians were petrified of the US Atomic Bomb. Then on a small island off Russia's coast E99 was found and Stalin put everything he had to advancing the abilities of E99. They experimented on people, children, crops, animals, and of course weapons. They created a bomb that was far more powerful the the Atomic Bomb and let it loose on the US east coast. Renko finds a device called the "TMD" or Time Manipulating Device. With the ability to age objects or replenish them he travels throughout the island discovering many secrets about the mineral and about the heads of the program. Although the concept of controlling time and traveling through it has been tried before in other games. I think this game conquers it. It's broken down so that the game feels somewhat realistic and the graphics add to the brilliance of the game. The single player campaign isnt the only great thing about this game though. The multiplayer is incredibly fun. You're put on a team that lets you choose from the monsters that were in the single player or the different types of humans. This game has it all, a truly amazing game.
Singularity 9.5/10
Graphics 9.0
Story 9.5
Replay 9.0
Multiplayer 9.5
Controls 9.5
Loved this game.
